Maddin Hauser is pleased to announce that Shareholder David M. Saperstein was appointed to serve as the State Bar of Michigan’s Professional Ethics Committee 2026-2027 chair. David has a distinguished record of service on this committee, having served since 2018.

The Standing Committee on Professional Ethics provides analysis and guidance on the Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct, helping lawyers apply rules to real-world situations and avoid costly missteps before they happen. Where relevant to attorney conduct in Michigan, it addresses the Michigan Code of Judicial Conduct, the ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct, and other applicable professional standards, keeping expectations consistent across the profession. As technology and the practice of law evolve, the Committee also addresses emerging ethical issues affecting lawyers, protecting clients, supporting public confidence, and providing attorneys with a trusted resource for navigating difficult questions.

A member of the firm’s Professional Liability Defense and Insurance Coverage group, David devotes his practice to professional liability defense, attorney grievance proceedings, and appellate law. He primarily defends attorneys, insurance agents, registered representatives, broker-dealers, accountants, and real estate agents. David speaks frequently on various legal topics and is an avid writer.

A highly accomplished attorney, David is admitted to practice law in Michigan, Ohio, and California. Among his numerous professional accolades, he has been recognized for several years in the Michigan edition of Best Lawyers in America®, and listed as well in the Michigan edition of Super Lawyers® and Top Lawyers by DBusiness Magazine. David earned his law degree from the University of Michigan and his Bachelor of Arts with high honors from the University of California, Berkeley. He clerked for the Hon. Myron H. Wahls of the Michigan Court of Appeals.
