GARY A. KRAVITZ, shareholder, combines legal savvy, bottom-line pragmatism, and a diplomatic yet determined approach to his work facilitating and spearheading a wide range of real estate transactions and business matters. With straightforward counsel and a solution-focused mindset, Gary has played a pivotal role in projects and endeavors that have had a lasting impact on Michigan’s real estate and entrepreneurial landscape.

A member of Maddin Hauser’s Real Estate, Corporate and Business, Franchise and Distribution, Lending and Finance, and Tax practice groups, Gary has earned a reputation for his effectiveness and efficiency. He strives to find common purpose and mutually beneficial compromises among parties who bring divergent interests and objectives to a deal. Achieving his client’s goals and protecting their interests in a way that spares them from overlawyering or costly inconsequential distractions is his hallmark.

In his real estate practice, Gary represents developers, corporations, and investors in the acquisition and disposition of industrial, office, retail, and multifamily projects, and conducts due diligence reviews of title, survey, environmental, and related issues. Particularly accomplished in commercial leasing matters, Gary has successfully negotiated hundreds of leasing transactions on behalf of landlords and tenants for retail, office, and warehouse properties. He also represents developers in land use and zoning matters before municipalities and assists with the creation of residential and commercial condominium developments.

Business owners from various industries rely on Gary to assist them with the multitude of legal issues they face, including structuring LLCs and corporations, preparing shareholder and operating agreements, and asset and stock purchase transactions. At every stage in the business lifecycle, from entity formation and organization to financing and capital raising to mergers, acquisitions, and exit strategies, Gary delivers actionable, candid guidance that keeps his clients on track and out of avoidable trouble. Even-keeled and personable, Gary instills confidence and clarity in his clients, allowing them to keep their focus squarely where it belongs – running their business.

In 2023, Michigan Lawyers Weekly named Gary a “Go-To” Lawyer in Commercial Real Estate, an honor reserved for elite attorneys who are highly skilled in their field. He has also been recognized by Best Lawyers in America®.

Passionate about giving back to the communities where he lives and works, Gary serves as vice president of the Six Rivers Land Conservancy, which helps conserve, sustain, and connect natural areas, lands, and waters. In addition, he has been active in the MS charity bike ride for the past three decades, including chairing its planning committee and raising nearly $100,000 over his years of participation.
